For the sixth time in six months, photographs by DC
professional architectural photographer Todd A. Smith have illustrated a
prestigious award for his clients, this time a national award from the National
Association of Home Builders (NAHB) for the Bozzuto Construction Company
project Monroe Street Market in Washington, D.C.
The platinum award given by NAHB in their 2014 Best in
American Living Awards (BALA) program went for the Infill Community category
because Monroe Street Market is a $225 million plus project reflecting the
transformation of five blighted city blocks in Washington, DC into a walkable
mixed-use town center, active 24/7 with housing, ground floor retail, artist
studio space and a freestanding community arts building.

architects KTGY Group, Inc/Torti Gallas & Partners Inc/ Maurice Walters
Architect, builder Bozzuto Construction Company and land planner Torti Gallas
& Partners Inc. There are three
distinct and different-looking buildings in the development that cater to
different budgets, interests, ages and lifestyle expectations and the
structures look like they have always been there.
“The Best in American Living Awards are the most prestigious
awards of their kind, setting the benchmark for innovations in residential home
design,” says 2014 BALA Chairman Stephen C. Moore. The award was announced during the recent
annual NAHB International Builder’s Show in Las Vegas.
